Submarine

For two weeks everyone has been worrying about the US most expensive atomic submarine on the planet USS Connecticut, somehow had bumped into a "strange" object, fortunately it was okay. The sub had returned safely to Guam home base for repair. The incident was been kept secret until recently. Then it will slowly fade into oblivion like the ship itself: it’s a submarine, a submarine must sink. Ever since Uncle Bi held the big steering wheel, it looks he has continuously brought unluckiness and misfortune to The US and American soldiers. In only a few months, a few unfortunate cases have happened: 13 Marines were killed by terrorist attack during the withdrawing in Afghanistan, then followed by the rushing of the “retaliation” resulting with the deaths of innocent Afghanistan civilians and children, then the collision with unknown objects of the US’s most advanced atomic submarine. It's fortunate that the US media are all "friends" of uncle Bi, if they had happened under time of our  Uncle-in-law-Trump, they would dug bare his grave for several generations. The incident of the cancelation of the out of date conventional submarine contract between Australia and France two months ago has also temporarily been "sunk". Well, let’s push this ill-fated agreement aside.

Let’s chat more about topic of submarines. I've been praised by my relatives for knowing about everything, but I'm not a scholar, haven't read any books in decades (all books here are in English books here, the language I’m illiterate). But have the good habit of watching TV and chatting. TV program now has subtitles and the commenters on it are very punctual, 5 min talk is 5 min. In those few short minutes they must convey main ideas and information to viewers, chatting is easier. Nowadays phone calls do not cost money, so friends can exchange freely for hours. Friends in the US, in Japan, in Vietnam ....just arrange suitable time to talk with each other. The same generation finds it easier to talk to each other and empathize with. Thanks to this new internet communication technology, I know almost everything happening around the world. In general, chatting is the good habit… I could have told many good and interesting taboo stories resulting from it, but I was often forced to swear to my friends: “I told you, you must keep it secret till death”... so I have to keep them to myself.

People of my age who had lived in Saigon are all the same level of knowledge about foreign affairs as they could watch American TV freely. Unfortunately, I didn't understand much of English, but the image implanted into my brain easily, which after 75 Vietcong called them the "venoms" of capitalist. Never mind, those who have been heavily poisoned are immune to many diseases, watch out... they will live a long life. At the same time, I also liked the drama movie that featured a submarine with its front looked like a cobra head. In the sub, it had a robot that knew “love” and “hate” like human. Submariners had bad people and good people. Watched it rising and diving. And it was my favourite when the sub entered the battle, it rose the binocular to the surface, any enemy ship that showed up on the centre line of the screen, the button was pressed, the torpedo was launched and the enemy ship sank. After that, it disappeared in the deep sea without a trace, tracking planes went looking for it but, obviously, in no vain, couldn't be found.

In wars, the conventional fighting style is common, which means that the two sides are positioned, facing each other. There is also the guerrilla style war, which is not face to face, only sneaking attack and then withdraw. Vietnam is a master of this fighting style, with thousands of years of experience. There are countries that do not know how to fight this guerrilla style. I think other countries should come to our country to learn. For example, when fighting at sea, some people argue that one cannot fight with guerrilla tactics, where can one hide in the middle of the sea to sneak in an attack and then run away? It is by submarines or a mine traps. Pocket size mini submarines are tiny, only with a few dozen sailors or even less. Lying quietly in crevices under water rock ledges, suddenly emerged and shoot, how can it be defended against? Knowing that the underwater search and detection technology is very advance, it is possible to use satellites to find submarines moving under deep water, but it is difficult if it turns off its engines and lies still. Vietnam is poor, bought Russian subs for cheap, it has bought a few already. Just for defense purpose, without invading anyone, there is no need for expensive subs. It seems that since the time Vietnam had the submarine fleet, the "strange ship" incident has also decreased. Countries that have intercontinental nuclear missiles are more worried, so they have to develop nuclear submarines that can run without oil, always diving near hostile countries, carrying nuclear warheads. In the case of land bases being destroyed, they still have their military power with devastated war heads in its nuclear power submarines sailing under the deep sea, here and there in secret locations. That is the best way to respond in kind against the hostile enemies.

Watching movies about submarines, it shows how hard it is for submariners. Living in cramped conditions, do not know day or night. From breathing air to drinking water they are all frugally. And if there is an accident, it is considered an ocean burial. Accidents are also many and catastrophic. America, Russia, Germany all have suffered. Just this year, Indonesia also lost one submarine and none of the 53 crew members survived. People still hate each other, so new and advanced submarines are constantly being built, which means that many young people have to leave the shore and live on the seabed. Can’t avoid it. Watching these movies, feel so pitiful for submariners.

Australia has just contracted to buy a few nuclear powered submarines from the American. They will not arrive and operate in Australia’s water for a few more decades yet, but I feel concerned on hearing the news of one nuclear powered submarine from the US fleet had "touched" unknown objects while on a diving mission under the East Sea. As a citizen of Australia, I’m obviously worried, and thus share some personal information on submarines, hmm... ( to be continued) )

Tàu ngầm

Hai tuần nay lo lắng cho chiếc tàu ngầm nguyên tử mắc nhất hành tinh của Mỹ, lái sao đó mà đụng vật " lạ ", may mà không sao. Tàu đi về Guam sửa chữa rồi. Tin tức giấu kín. Chuyện từ từ cũng đi vào quên lãng như bản thân của loại tàu đó : tàu ngầm mà, ngầm là phải chìm. Từ hồi bác Bi cầm tay lái bự, coi bộ lính Mỹ xui xẻo. Mới mấy tháng mà mấy vụ: nào là 13 TQLC hy sinh. Vội vàng trả đũa lại "trả" ngay thường dân và em bé. Rồi tàu ngầm thứ dữ mà cọ quẹt mới ghê.Cũng may là cánh truyền thông giấc này toàn là "friends" của bác, chớ mà ông dượng để xảy ra vậy là họ đào mồ cuốc mả mấy đời. Cái vụ tàu ngầm lộn xộn cả hai tháng nay giữa Úc với Pháp cũng tạm "chìm xuồng ". Thôi adieu nó vậy.

Tám cái chuyện tàu ngầm, tui cũng xin phân trần một chút. Tui được bà con khen cái gì cũng biết mà tui không phải học giả gì ráo, sách vở mấy chục năm chưa đọc cuốn nào (qua đây toàn sách tiếng Anh, biết gì mà đọc). Nhưng được cái nết mê xem TV và hóng chuyện. Xem tv bây giờ có phụ đề và những người bình luận trên đó rất đúng giờ, bài nói chuyện 5 phút là 5 phút. Trong mấy phút ngắn ngủi đó phải truyền đạt ý tưởng cho người nghe. Hóng chuyện thì dễ hơn. Giấc này gọi đt không tốn tiền nên bạn bè trao đổi thoải mái. Người bên Mỹ, bên Nhật, VN.... canh giờ giấc chém gió. Cùng thế hệ nên dễ nói chuyện và thông cảm. Nhờ vậy mình biết mọi chuyện thiên hạ. Nói chung, nhiều chiện là tính tốt... Đáng lẽ tui còn kể được nhiều câu chuyện hay nữa nhưng hay bị bắt thề độc: tui kể cho anh nghe, sống để dạ chết mang theo nghe không... nên bó tay luôn.

Dân cỡ tuổi tui mà sống ở Saigon đều giống nhau là được xem tv đài Mỹ. Tiếc rằng không hiểu tiếng nhưng hình ảnh thì nó đi vô cái tâm hồn mình dễ dàng mà sau 75 cái đó được gọi là "nọc độc " của tư bản. Thôi kệ, người nào nhiễm độc nhiều thì miễn nhiễm với nhiều thứ bệnh, coi chừng lại... sống lâu. Cũng thời đó tui cũng thích bộ phim truyền hình có chiếc tàu ngầm mà cái đầu nó giống con rắn hổ mang. Sống trên tàu có con robot biết yêu ghét như người. Các thuỷ thủ có người xấu tính và người tốt. Được xem cảnh nó nổi lên, lặn xuống. Và thích nhất khi vào trận chiến, nó thò cái kính lên, con tàu nào vô ngay chữ thập là bấm nút. Thuỷ lôi phóng ra đánh chìm tàu. Xong là nó lặn mất tiêu, máy bay đi kiếm cũng không thấy.

Trong chiến tranh thì có đánh kiểu quy ước nghĩa là hai bên giàn quân, mặt đối mặt tiến uýnh nhau. Cũng có kiểu du kích, là không đối mặt, đánh lén rồi rút lui. Việt Nam ta là bậc thầy của lối đánh này, có kinh nghiệm cả mấy ngàn năm. Có quốc gia lại không biết đánh kiểu này. Tui thấy nên qua xứ ta học tập. Thí dụ như đánh trận trên biển, có người phản bác tui là không đánh du kích được, giữa biển biết núp ở đâu mà đánh lén rồi chạy? Xin thưa đó là tàu ngầm hoặc mìn bẫy. Cái tàu ngầm nhỏ xíu, chỉ vài chục thuỷ thủ. Nằm im núp ở khe đá nào đó, bất ngờ trồi lên bắn cái đùng đỡ sao kịp. Biết rằng bây giờ kỹ thuật tìm kiếm, dò la rất hiện đại, có thể dùng vệ tinh để tìm thấy tàu ngầm nhưng nếu nó tắt máy nằm im thì cũng khó. VN nghèo, mua tàu Nga cho rẻ, nghe đâu sắm được mấy chiếc. Phòng thủ, không xâm lăng ai thì đâu cần tàu mắc tiền. Hình như từ hồi VN có tàu ngầm, cái vụ "tàu lạ " đâm tàu cá cũng giảm bớt. Mấy nước có hoả tiễn nguyên tử xuyên lục địa thì lo lắng hơn nên phải phát triển tàu ngầm nguyên tử, đi hoài không cần đổ dầu. Lúc nào cũng phải lặn gần các quốc gia thù nghịch, mang theo đầu đạn nguyên tử. Rủi trên mặt đất bị tan tành thì cũng còn dưới biển sâu, nay chỗ này mai chỗ khác. Như vậy mới trả đũa được.

Xem phim về tàu ngầm mới thấy thuỷ thủ thật gian khổ. Sống chật chội, không biết ngày hay đêm. Từ dưỡng khí để thở với nước uống cũng dè xẻn. Mà nếu có tai nạn là xem như thuỷ táng. Tai nạn cũng nhiều và thật thảm khốc. Mỹ, Nga, Đức đều bị. Mới năm nay Indonesia cũng mất một chiếc. Không ai sống sót. Con người vẫn thù hằn nhau nên tàu ngầm cứ phải đóng mới liên tục cũng có nghĩa là nhiều thanh niên lại phải bỏ bờ xuống sống dưới đáy biển. Tránh sao khỏi. Xem phim mà tội nghiệp con người quá xá.

Xứ Úc tui chuẩn bị mua mấy chiếc của Mỹ đây, chưa có xài mà nghe nó bị " đụng " thấy cũng chột dạ chớ, mình con dân nên lo lắng, chia sẻ lên phây là vậy, hừ hừ...( còn tiếp)
