A bowl of Noodle soup

One day, the young girl quarrelled with her mother, she then left home. She ran for some time. Seeing a noodle soup restaurant ahead, at that moment, she realized that she was hungry. But when reaching her pocket she noticed that she did not have even a single cent. The lady owner was smart and subtle. Noticing the young girl standing in front of the shop, she approached and asked her:

Một hôm, cô gái và bà mẹ cãi nhau. Sau đó, cô bỏ nhà ra đi. Cô ta chạy rất lâu. Thấy phía trước có tiệm mì, lúc đó, cô mới cảm thấy đói bụng. Nhưng khi cô sờ vào túi, thì một xu cũng không có. Bà chủ tiệm mì là người thông minh, tinh tế. Thấy cô gái đứng đó liền hỏi:

She reluctantly answered:
Cô gái trả lời một cách ngại ngùng:

“But I forgot to bring along money”
“Nhưng con không mang theo tiền”.

“not to worry, I can invite you”
“Không sao, bà có thể mời con ăn”.

The lady owner brought up a bowl of noodle soup and a plate of food. The young girl was very grateful. After eating just a little bit, her tears ran out, dropping into the noodle bowl. The lady comforted her:

Bà chủ mang đến một tô mì và một dĩa thức ăn. Cô ta rất cảm kích, mới ăn được một ít, thì nước mắt đã chảy ra, rơi xuống tô mì. Bà chủ an ủi: 

“How are you?”
“Con làm sao vậy?”

The young girl said while wiping her tears:
Cô gái vừa lau nước mắt vừa nói: 

“I’m okay, I’m only thankful to your kindness and generosity. You and I are strangers, but you treated me so well, cooked noodle soup to feed me. But I instead disobeyed my mum, upset her to the point that she asked me to leave home. She told me never to come back”

“Con không sao cả, con chỉ cảm kích. Con và bà không hề quen biết nhau, vậy mà bà đối xử với con thật tốt, còn nấu mì cho con ăn nữa. Nhưng con đã cãi lời mẹ và bà đã đuổi con ra khỏi nhà. Bà còn bảo con đừng quay trở lại nữa”.

After hearing the young girl’s replying, the lady said calmly:

“Why can you think like that? You just think, I only cooked for you just one meal, but you appreciate it and are so thankful to me. You mum, on the other hand had cooked meals for you for such many years, why don’t you express you thank to her stead of arguing with her”

Bà chủ nghe xong, rồi bình tỉnh nói:
“Sao con lại nghĩ như vậy? Con nghĩ thử xem, bà chỉ nấu cho con ăn một bữa, mà con lại cảm kích. Vậy mẹ con đã nấu mười mấy năm cơm gạo cho con ăn, sao con không cảm ơn mẹ mà còn cãi nhau với mẹ”.

After hearing the lady’s words, the young girl was dumbfounded. She quickly finished the bowl of noodle, then immediately rushed back home. When she got home, she saw her mum standing at front door, waiting. On seeing the young girl, the mother was delighted, happily said:

Nghe xong cô gái lặng người. Cô ăn hết tô mì một cách vội vã, rồi lập tức chạy về nhà. Khi về đến nhà, thì thấy mẹ đang đứng trước cửa đợi. Vừa thấy cô người mẹ rất vui mừng:

“come inside quick my dear, your meal has been cooked, you would better hurry, come in and eat, it is already cold”

“Mau vào nhà, cơm đã nấu xong rồi, còn không mau ăn, thức ăn nguội hết rồi”.

At that moment her tears again started pouring down!

Lúc đó, nước mắt của cô gái lại chảy!

Sometime when we receive a small gift from a stranger we appreciate, feel so grateful. But with the continuing, unconditional loving care and supports from our closed ones, we instead ignore like we never saw them.

Có khi chỉ nhận được một chút ân huệ của người khác chúng ta laị cảm thấy rất cảm kích và biết ơn. Nhưng đối với ân tình của người thân, thì chúng ta lại làm lơ như không hề thấy.
