I'm far from the war zone, only know it through lousy
…news because now there are no reliable sources, especially Vietnamese-speaking
YouTube channels.
It is the strange thing that folks in Vietnam praise
Putin all the time, constantly calling the Ukrainian president by a defamatory
name. Thereby, I see that the education system in Vietcong country has trained
the war-like young generation. Very few comments have polite language. Read
them, feel so sad.
It’s common that those who openly hug both sides think
that they are very wise. Other people often look down at them and it is nothing
to be proud of. I'd rather be against the US until the end, and be proud of
that, rightly or wrongly it shows the manner of an honour person, a gentleman.
Back to Ukraine. Today the war has been happening for
the third day. Russian aircrafts are dominating the sky, Ukraine's air force is
nowhere to be seen (the Ukraine’ strong army probably is hiding in secret
locations and they are nowhere to been to confront the Russian’s tanks to
preserve their arm forces for the soon to happen the counter attacks). Only tank
convoys are entering Kiev in publicly shared news videos. I don't think these
videos show the true facts, because I understand that tanks without infantry,
even if there are so many of them roaming the streets as crabs running around on
the beach, will still be destroyed in the end. The Vietnam War had many of
these cases. The tanks ran too fast leaving the infantry behind. When they
entered the city alone, they could not utilize their own strength, and can be
easily destroyed by antitank hand held weapons. So people watching the news now
must also use their heads, thinking. I see Putin bombarding the Ukraine towns
and cities with his jets and rockets, so to advance, it has to be slow, they
have to protect their back while advancing. Even reaching the capital city Kiev
it would take a month, believe me.
Only unless the leaders of Ukraine surrender or
someone flees, if they have their people they will fight to the end, even
though their weapons are not as modern as Russia's, they will still be able to
hold out for a long time - from conventional to guerrilla warfare. Seeing the
news, I saw the image of the President of Ukraine wearing a combating military
uniform visiting their soldiers, their cabinet was still united, did not see
the Ukrainians protesting to overthrow their current popular elected government
even though Putin has been urging them to do. Then it's a hard nut for Russia
to swallow. I have said before, it's easy to look at the map and directs the
invasion with the stick, in reality on the battel field it is another game show
and very difficult. Just yesterday, an entire Russian platoon of special force has
surrendered because they were dropped into the battlefield and didn't know
where and what to do. Putin wanted to quickly surround the Kiev government
headquarters and bring them down. Wanting is one thing, actually successfully
in doing it is another, unless the people opposing the current Ukraine
government are with them or there is a coup on the other side.
There were many comments saying that why no Western
allies came in to help Ukraine, and calling them cowards. I think differently.
What the Ukrainians need is not foreign troops, but weapons aid and other
material supports. Sometime with foreign assistance in terms of arm forces, it
would create bad images as well as counter-productive, like the case of the
Republic of Vietnam in the sixties with the American’s direct involvement in
the fighting against the communists. The American hastily rushed in with their
armed combats to make us losing our legitimation in fight the war against the
Vietcong. The American fought their own way and didn't listen to us. In the end
they ran off and abandoned us, we got stranded, and in the end we got strangled
by the American by cutting off all aids, specially military aids. Biden's bloodied
hands had played the significant role in the murdering of South Vietnam regime.
I hate this guy to the bone. However, many people of the Republic of Vietnam fled
the Vietcong regime to the US and other Western countries after 1975, on the
contrary, are madly in love with him and his Democrats. Really unable to
understand their mentality!
To sustain a war, the most needed is money. A fighter
jet is worth the money to build a few hospitals. A rocket fired equals the
income of a firm of thousands of employees a year. Just continue shooting you
will crash. So for each day Ukraine stands firm, it will be a hellish day for
Putin. Not happy at all.
When Russia is embargoed, countries that buy Russian
weapons, specially high tech weapons, will suffer greatly. They sell cheap
weapons to compete but spare parts would be very expensive. A friend who used
to work as a technician at an airbase in Tan Son Nhat said that for how many
hours each F5 took off and flew, then the parts of the jet engine had to be
replaced because they were worn out, and could not fly nonstop. Therefore, if
these spare parts are not provided, the planes have to be covered with a mat.
But it's not cheap. When the Americans stopped giving aid, I understood that
the planes were just the useless ducks. In Vietcong country now, most weapons
are bought from Russia. If there is war now, do not know where to get spare
parts.

While fighting, the two sides can still negotiate.
This is a good thing, but can be easily misrepresented. There is news that the
President of Ukraine is about to surrender. I don't believe so. Negotiating to
negotiate to avoid more bloodshed, does not mean to surrender. With each side
yielding a little, the war will have a chance to end. I support the negotiation
that the common language calls "talk about right and wrong". As long
as we can talk to each other, there is still hope.
