Dear Professor Cossu:

We are a group of Vietnamese expatriates. We would like to join Professors Van Tuan Nguyen (Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Australia) and Tuan Quang Pham (The University of New South Wales, Australia) in expressing our concern, if not outrage, about the bias shown in the map of China (i.e. deletion of neighboring countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, The Philippines…and inclusion of the disputed waters and islands to the east of Vietnam) contained in the paper “Municipal solid waste source-separated collection in China: A comparative analysis” authored by Tai et al. recently appearing in your journal .

In the interest of scientific integrity as well as the true facts of the East Sea of South East Asia, we would appreciate your putting out a correction as requested by the Professors or at least printing their letters in full so the readers of your journal can make up their minds about the bias in the paper written by Tai et al.

Yours sincerely,
